Drupal Views

These days I've been using the Drupal views module a little more. I can see that it's a great way for a non-coder to plow into making pages and blocks for themselves, using reasonable wizards to get the job done. It's flexible enough to allow someone with a reasonable amount of technology experience to build their own widgets, and simple enough to mean that many non-coders could do the job.
There are still reasonably likely requirements that require a pure coder to tweak things, but if your needs are very simple, the views module is a great place to start. It should be noted that the views module very correctly focuses on presenting information from nodes, and not from comments.
Workspace Lives!

Last night saw the unveiling of WorkSpace, Vancouver's newest funky office space with killer view for rent cafe social spot bleeding edge business practices joint.
The party was appropriately geeky and spontaneous. Here's hoping that the nice new rolly chairs survived the outbreak of office-chair-roller-derby-turned-disco.
My photo contest entry for the 'free first month's rent contest' was deemed worthy, which I'm pretty happy about. There are a number of others in the same boat.
Virtual Fridge Magnets for your Flatpanel

Another day another toy... I found this while looking around for Ajax tools and tutorials.
You know those little word-game fridge magnets? The ones where people manage to create dirty phrases from otherwise benign words on your fridge to embarass people who visit after the party is over?
Well... here's one for the web.
Source info is here... Broken Notebook's Magnetic Web
A sample deployment is here at Jones Soda
The coolest bit is that it's fully communal, so the updates that others do are visible to all others who browse the same page. I dare say that you could even have a rather stilted conversation with someone on one of those things.
